The Piast Castles Trail – a brief description of the trail

The total length of the trail: 146 km

The trail:

The Piast Castle Trail is a walking tourist trail. It is marked in green. The starting point is Grodno Castle in Zagórze Śląskie, it then goes through Książ Castle, a Castle in Bolków, Bolczów Castle, Jelenia Góra, Wleń and finishes in Grodziec.

It is suggested to divide the Piast Castles Trail into six sections:

Section 1 – 25 km:

Grodno Castle in Zagórze Śląskie - Lubiechów (15 km) – Stary Książ (Castle) (18 km) – Książ Castle (21 km) –  Cisy Castle (25 km);

Section 2 – 26 km:

Cisy Castle – Kłaczyna (41 km) – Świny Castle (48 km) - Bolków Castle (48 km) – Bolków (51 km);

Section 3 – 26 km:

Bolków – Płonina (Niesytno Castle) (60 km) - Bolczów Castle (72 km) – „Szwajcarka” Shelter (77 km);

Section 4 – 22 km:

“Szwajcarka” Shelter – Sokolec Castle (78 km) – Sokolikowa Pass (78 km) – Wojanów (Palace) (82 km) – Jelenia Góra (95 km) – Siedlęcin (“Perła Zachodu” Shelter) (99 km);

Section 5 – 23 km:

Siedlęcin (“Perła Zachodu” Shelter) – Siedlęcin (Residential Tower) (103 km) – Dam of  Pilchowickie Lake (107 km) – Wleń Castle (120 km) – Wleń (market place) (122 km);

Section 6 – 24 km:

Wleń (market place) – Ostrzyca (130 km) – Grodziec Castle (146 km).

It is possible to visit the trail by bike – large part of the described trail (from Grodno Castle to Pilchowice behind Wleń) is parallel with:

  • the Euro Regional Cycling Tourist Trail, "the Bóbr Valley" ER-6;
  • the European Long-distance Trail E3.

There are also cycle paths around Grodziec Castle.

The trail can also be visited by car. The total length of the trail: 150.8 km.

  • Section 1: Grodno Castle – Cisy Castle 28.1 km, road no. 383, ul. 11 Listopada, ul. Wrocławska
  • Section 2: Kłaczyna – Niesytno 34 km (62.1km), road no. 34 and no. 5
  • Section 3: Bolczów – Sokolec 15,4km (77.5km), road no. 328 and no. 3
  • Section 4: Siedlęcin – Grodziec Castle 73.3 km (150.8 km), road no. 297

 

Visiting the trail:

The trail can be visited by car, by bike or on foot.
