Lubomierz – a monastery and a parsonage at the Church of St. Maternus, today a boarding school, Kościelny Square 4, 5, Monastic Park.

Lubomierz is a city situated in the Lower Silesian district, in the county of Lwówek Śląskie, on the Izerskie Foothills. A market settlement was situated here in the 12th century. In 1251 the village was founded under German law. After 1278, a convent of Benedictines was established, which remained here until the liquidation of church estates in 1810. In 1291, the Dduke of Świdnica and Jawor, Bolko I, gave the settlement civic rights. The medieval layout of the town has been preserved until today.

The convent was founded by Jutta von Libenthal. The convent church was built in the Gothic style in the 14th century, and was extended in the early 16 century. It has been damaged many times, and only a tower and part of the walls in the part of the convent, have been preserved. The present church was built between 1727 and 1730. It is a brick, three-nave hall structure with matronea. It is a five-bay structure covered with a sail-vault on stiffeners. On the ceiling there is a mural by Georg Wilhelm Neunhertz. The portal is decorated with statues of the patron - St. Scholastica, St. Peter and St. Paul. The present Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Maternus is a filial church. The convent building is adjacent to the church on the south-western side. It is a four-winged structure situated around a viridary, surrounded by single-storey cloisters. Barrel and sail-vaults have been preserved inside. The vicarage was built in 1689, on the walls of a former structure. It was built on a plan of the letter “L”. It is a two-storey structure covered with a mansard roof. On the ground floor some barrel vaults with lunettes have been preserved.

The building situated at 4 Kościelny square, comes from the 19th century. The most valuable architectural details are two stone profiled portals, plastered frames, rustic work on the elevation in the plaster, twin windows, lizenage articulation, the carpentry of the door and the balustrade of the staircase. The building at 5 Kościelny Square is also interesting. It is a former orphanage founded in 1864. The neo-Gothic building is situated on higher terrain, the walls and all the architectural details are made of brick. Today it houses a boarding school of Zespół Szkół Ogolnokształcących i Zawodowych (a general and vocational secondary school).

The concert park was established in the 17th century, around the convent of Benedictine, as a decorative garden. Its axis is marked by a fountain and a statue of St. John the Baptist. The fountain is surrounded by hornbeams. On the island of a decorative pond (established in the mid-19th century on the basis of a fish pond) there is a shrine with a statue of the Virgin Mary.
